Benefits of Salary Exchange
Salary exchange is a contractual arrangement in which an employee agrees to forgo a specific portion of their salary, and their employer agrees to increase the contributions they make to the employee’s pension by the same amount. The primary advantage for both the employer and the employee is a decrease in National Insurance contributions. For employees the saving will be between 12% and 2% of the salary sacrificed, the exact saving dependent upon the employee’s earnings, while employers will save 15% on the amount of salary sacrificed.
